The VALE INC. Crew spent a summer living at the legendary Gobblers ski lodge on Coronet Peak, Queenstown New Zealand. This film documents a period spent away from society, mostly above 1000m, with friends, bikes, shovels, and endless inspiration from the surrounding landscape. A meditation on sacrifice, ambition and unity, On the Up follows pro cyclists Sarah Sturm, Alexis Skarda and Ellen Campbell as they prepare for the 2024 Leadville Trail 100 MTB race in Colorado, one of the most formidable off-road events in the world. Leadville – known as the Race Across the Sky – was established in 1983 and is ridden at extreme altitude. 2024 is the first year Leadville has had a separate women’s start, a historical moment captured by the film.

FICKLE BUSINESS

With its ever-changing snow and weather conditions, winter in New Zealand is often described as a roller coaster. Forecasts call for a snow dump that then turns to rain, ski fields are accessed by treacherous 4WD tracks, and plans change by the minute. Skiing in New Zealand is a real “Fickle Business”.

A Dream for the Future

Through sweeping visuals and personal stories, "A Dream for the Future" weaves together Foothills conservancy of NC’s rich history, ongoing work, and vision for the future.
The 27-minute film, produced by WNC-native filmmakers from Creative Campfire, showcases FCNC’s conservation achievements, including iconic places such as Lake James State Park, South Mountains Game Land, Catawba Falls, and Wilson Creek.
