Everest with no bottled oxygen. This feat prompted further paradigm shifts, prompting alpinists to pursue progressively more stripped-down approaches. In 2022, The North Face Athlete Benjamin Védrines set out to break K2’s FKT, failing his attempt and barely escaping to tell the tale.
He returned in 2024 to fulfill the challenge that had come to define him—and face the psychological scars of his earlier mission.

Light It Up

As kids, we all spent a good chunk of our off-season, evenings, and throughout injuries getting fired up to ride with bike movies. We'd collect DVDs and watch them on repeat until it was light enough to ride or the snow had finished melting. With the release of the Bottlerocket we wanted to create something to showcase how rad our athletes are and what they get up to on their Bottlerockets. This video showcases old and new spots in 6 segments ranging from Peruvian freeride lines to BC loamers as well as a modern day look at "freeride" with some massive FEST jumps in Slovenia. 'Light it Up' tries to strike a balance between the style of films we watched our heroes throwing down in and modern-day freeride. Take a peek a this new video of our crew doing what they do best!
